The House Location & Surroundings Family Vacations Business Retreats Marie's Cottage Organic Farm

LOCATION AND SURROUNDINGS

Location:

The house is conveniently located 1 hour from Boston, accessible by highways, but not near them, which means that visitors can usually avoid heavy summertime traffic.

We are located in the village of Buzzard's Bay, part of the town of Bourne, Massachusetts which is made up of several small villages on both sides of the Cape Cod Canal.  Buzzard's Bay is also the name of the body of the Atlantic that starts from here and continues southward to the open ocean.  The historic town of Buzzard's Bay is probably best known for its antique shops along Main Street.  You can stroll, cycle, or rollerblade up and down the six mile path along the canal.  You can also visit the the railroad bridge and see the view of the canal and the Cape, all the way to Provincetown.  Buzzard's Bay is 20 minutes from Falmouth center and just 5 minutes away from the quaint seaside village of Onset.

Surroundings:

The house is at the end of a very quiet street, and care has been taken over the years to plant flowering bushes and trees along it for the benefit of those taking walks.  Overbrook includes 22 acres of diverse terrain to explore and enjoy including lawns, a pool, volleyball court, large field, stone walls, gardens, woods, a stream, and a pond.  Little Buttermilk Bay is just a short walk away.

In season, a variety of organic vegetables, herbs, and flowers from Bay End Farm, our family farm, are available for you and your guests.  Guided tours of the organic farm are available upon request. Adjacent to the farm is a 250-acre nature preserve, where walking, jogging, or bird-watching as well as watching the garden grow are some of the ways to enhance a connection with nature.  The Buttermilk Bays are also a fun place to sail, windsurf, or canoe.
